Sulfate Analyzer

Sulfate Analyzer

The 3S colorimeter is a compact analytical instrument for online analysis and process monitoring of (waste) water. The colorimeter is based on a color developing chemical reaction that is carried out in the glass measuring cell of the water analyzer. The sample, coming from an external reservoir or process stream, is autonomously picked up by the instrument and mixed with the appropriate reagents to allow the reaction to occur. The analyzer uses an LED light source and a photodiode to photometrically measure the developed color intensity (absorption). The absorption is proportional to the concentration of the chemical component to be measured. The detection limit is in the low ppm range.

This method is an adaptation of the turbidimetric method to measure sulphates. Sulfate ions are precipitated as barium sulfate with excess barium chloride. A conditioning reagent is added to maintain the barium sulfate suspension. When the reagent is added to a sample containing sulfate, it will cause cloudiness in the sample. The intensity of the absorption (turbidity) is proportional to the sulfate concentration in the sample and is measured at 430 nm.

This series contains various types of water analyzer
